June 10, 2013 at 7:02 pm[John Pale] “I got nothing…why do YOU think they went with AMD?”
It’s a MacPro and the computer is sold by Apple?
Apple chooses components for very specific reasons never having to do with what the fastest most intense system available.
They must like the Nvidia mobile chips for battery life/power reasons.
They must like AMD for openCL and other reasons, maybe with the redesign it has to do with heat distribution in a smaller space, etc.

June 10, 2013 at 7:05 pmThey like them because they got the best deal and the biggest profit margin, which they’ll stash away on some Caribbean island where it’ll do nobody any use at all.

June 10, 2013 at 7:05 pmIt better be stackable, since I’ll need room for my hard drive chassis, my thunderbolt to pci chassis, and who knows what else.
Maybe it will all fit inside my old Mac Pro tower case, once I clean it out.

“I made this comment elsewhere…did you see how TINY it is next to the current MacPro…it barely comes up to the power button…you’ll probably be stacking this on top of something else or leaving it on your desk (if the fans are quiet).

June 10, 2013 at 7:30 pmThe cooling system/fan is pretty advanced and apparently quiet.
I guess they really do think its going to go on top your desk. -

June 10, 2013 at 7:34 pmShouldn’t matter for Adobe. Premiere uses OpenCl as well as CUDA and Pr CC can use multiple GPUs.
What about After Effects? Isn’t that only CUDA? For now, at least….
