tube into teardrop
Posted by Jason Boos on July 5, 2010 at 12:44 pmMorning y’all
I’m a C4D virgin, I wanted to try out a concept where i could turn the “tube” object into a hollow teardrop shaped object, but it’s not working my way.
Tried using “extrude” but it’s not coming out right.Anybody out there got suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

July 5, 2010 at 3:00 pmIf you are set on using the “Tube for some reason try with deformers.
If you place a “Tube” Object in a Null object along with both the Buldge and Taper deformers you should get a tear shape. Be sure the your “Tube” has plenty of subdivisions on the caps and height or nothing good will happen.Personally I would go with a spline in lathe nurbs for this type of thing.

July 5, 2010 at 3:20 pmI’m not really set into the “tube” option, but I figured that was the closest idea that I could have gotten. See, my boss wanted to get a teardrop arrayed radially in 7 parts; each part to be hollowed out.
You got an alternative way to getting a hollowed out teardrop?
ps: another option for me was to take a teardrop pick, get a path out of it using illustrator. From there…ummm……

Did you try this Jason?
Draw a spline the follows the profile of one half of a tear drop. Drop the spline into a lathe nurbs object.
If you dial back the angle on the lathe nurds to 180 degrees you’ll end up with a teardrop cross section. -

July 5, 2010 at 5:58 pmok. never tried it that way. i realize that, for this to work, i’ll have to draw the spline on the XY axis.
Will let you know how the progress goes.
