    Hello all,
A local broadcaster is asking us for h.264 encoded .ts files of one of our series (1080i). I tried encoding such a file using Sorenson, but could not end up with a file with the “.ts” extension. I am told by the broadcaster’s tech that the file needs to be “.ts”.
If anyone is familiar with this format, how do I generate such a file? I am hoping to not have to BUY new software for this, and can’t seem to find much info around.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers
    Ian

TS files are “transport stream”. It’s a very (read: very) specific encoding that must be done. It’s usually an H.264 essence inside an MPEG-2 TS container. I think that Episode Pro can do it, but I’ve never had that requirement, so I don’t own that (expensive) program (yet)…

TS is short for Transport Stream. TS files are MPEG-2 video files and recordings of television broadcasts in high definition. Many popular movies are in the format of TS. However, TS video format is not so easy for editing tools to recognize and support owing to codec problem. So if you want to edit .ts files in Avid Media Composer, you’d better convert .ts video to Avid editing-friendly format.

The OP is wanting to DELIVER h.264 in a .ts container.

I would see if VLC will do it.

    Y’all take it EZ,
    Robert
