    Hello everyone,

I shot some footage on my HVX200 in 720/24P instead of 720/24PN and am having weird issues when trying to use it in Avid Media Composer 5.52.

I downloaded the P2 cards onto a drive and am using the Link to AMA files to get them into a bin.

The project that I made is 720/23.976. When I play the material, the frame rate is obviously off as the image is slow and jittery. I experimented with various projects/frame rates and haven’t had any luck.

The second issue is that the audio doesn’t show up unless I manually go into the Audio folder and link to those AMA files as well. Is that normal?

    Thanks everyone for your time.

Make a 720p 59.94 project. 24p (non-PN) runs at 59.94…it just has the 24p “look.” Try that and see what happens.

    Hi Shane,

Thank you for your response. I had found out about the 59.94 through my research and showed no change.

Strange thing though, now I’m seeing that if I play the footage directly from the P2 cards in the camera, the footage is fine. Whilst when I play AMA footage that I transferred to my hard drive, I am having problems with slowed down image and jitters. Perhaps copying straight from the P2 cards to the hard drive is not the best way to transfer the footage…?

We shoot P2 and found that 720/30p is actually shooting 60 with a flag to playback 30 – Avid doesn’t seem to recognize this and gives me the green dot in the timeline of a 720p/29.97 project when linking AMA. When we shoot 720p/30PN – we get 30 frames and Avid is happy. Copying P2 drives has not affected us and shouldn’t affect you as long as you keep the P2 structure in place – the computer doesn’t care. We found AMA linking to volume brings the media back without going through relinking when changing from one Avid room to another.

    Thank you for your responses.

The problem appeared to stem from the hard drive transfer. I used the consolidation tool in the clip menu instead to move the clips from the P2 cards to my hard drives and now they are running smoothly. A strange issue, but at least it’s resolved.
