You seem to be my best prospect so you wanna buy mine for 25k?
It’s yours, man. Seriosly. Comes with a terabyte of storage, sapphire plugins, even AE and photoshop. Heck, I’ll thow in an ol waeform monitor/vectorscpe because I won’t hae to resort to old boat anchor gear once I upgrade to an NLE tat houses scopes that read output levels.
By “rock” I mean it does what it says nicely. You know, like open captur tool, not have to reassign any decks or relaunch the app, create a new projet, throw some HD on the timeline, hit play and see it? That kind of thang. Maybe even layer som of that and not have to render. Like FCP does, basicly. Or freakin vegas. Native. No bs workarounds, no wrestling matches, no calls to avid support with them telling me I have to be in half quality mode and that the adrenaline can’t play HD footage out of the bob but can export it. Something that rocks, man. You don’t know what freakin rock means?
    damn, that blows, dude.

Ahee heeee heee… the ‘Platform Wars’ forum is looking kinda barren. Why go there when we got this one?

Man do I miss the old AVBV MC. Blows my Adrenaline out of the ‘stability’ waters. May it RIP. But it was perfect for only one day in six years. The day after that perfect day, some producer came in and said, “hey, can you do ___ effect?” That was it. Another effect that needs another QuickTime upgrade that offsets previous Avid settings that causes Avid Tech Support to tell you to “trash your user settings” that forces you to notice new settings that engages you to try those settings that makes you realize you can do more effects that makes you upgrade to the newer version of MC that makes you giddy about telling your next producer about all the cool new stuff you can do that makes them say “that’s great, but can it do ___ effect?”

And that’s just for one line of work. What if you do ad agency editing on Tuesday, HD transcoding for your documentary on Wednersday and indie film work on Thursday?

But FCP isn’t any better. It’s a consumer program for a consumer world. Apple has been smart by marketing FCP machines to all the film schools, but those students are now graduating into the job market finding that the fun, artsy, indie jobs they’ve been hoping for are plentiful for FCP users – but the salaried jobs with 401k’s or 403b’s are more Avid based.

Do I think Adrenaline is unstable? Yes. But it’s no Corvair. It ain’t no GTO either. Hmmm… reminds me of a Dodge Intrepid. Sleek lines; cab-forward design; exceeeeedingly uncomfortable; in the shop a lot; but at least gets you from point A to point B while looking better than the guy in the rusty Caprice.

Not to sound granola here, but the only edit system that has ever been 100% stable is a Moviola Syncronizer and a Griswold splicer. Not because of snobby film reasons, but because there’s no upgrading – ever. It has one use. The problem is – none of us have only one use anymore.

post of the year right there, monkey.
Intrepid. Spot on, brother. Can’t go wrong with car analogies.
I keep bustin’ my ideler pulley from goosin’ it too hard while cornering. While I know this, I just can’t seem to help punchin’ it cuz it cost me me what a new Charger costs. Almost like I expect it to perform because it’s suppose to. Silly, I know but I’ma be driftin’ this beotch again tonight.
On the same analogy, I guess thats the biggest drag here. They now go from the Intrepid (adrenaline) to the Viper (DS Nitris) and really havn’t a Challenger or Charger to pick from in between. Symphony Nitris doesn’t count. Ya can’t be sellin’ a dodge muscle car with no hemi, man. This was what was great about the Duster (media composer). It had plenty of muscle and lacked enough comfort to remain affordable. While discontinued, these old models have a way of coming back all modernized sometimes. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Hmmm… never saw David Krall and Lee Iacocca in the same room together. Hmmm.

So if Xpress 3.0 was a Neon, would Pro with Mojo be a PT Cruiser?

no, it’s an SRT4. Still a neon but boosted enough to hang with the big boys, depending on the driver.

Maybe I’m missing something but this begs the question: Why doesn’t AJA or Blackmagic make a product for Avid? Proprietary reasons?

AJA and Blackmagic don’t make I/O boards for Avid because, if they did, Avid couldn’t sell you their hardware.

I guess that kind of makes it proprietary–Avid doesn’t want someone else to cut in on their sales. Kind of like FCP only running on a Mac–make it run on a PC and suddenly Apple loses a huge number of sales on hardware. Doesn’t bode well for any company that makes the hardware and software.

    Michael.
