I am thinking of purchasing one of these cameras. I guess my question is are the lenses interchangable or what kind of zoom does this camcorder come standard with? All this technical talk is very confusing for a guy who is really just trying to get started but i am willing to learn and really want to learn how to use this camera proficiantly. I would also no what type of computer program i could use to edit this video. The camera will mainly be used in hunting videos. Any info would be great i am all ears and hope you guys can help.
    thanks derek

In short, the answer to your question about “interchangeable” lens’ is no, the 100a lens is what it is. You were given some good advice on reading the article about the 3 DV camera Shootout. I would read and understand that.

Additionally, ss someone who has produced a great many hunting/fishing programs over the years, I would hope you’d take the effort to understand and master the concepts of video/program production before (if) you intend to distribute. Nothing harms the conservation movement more than the public presentation of REALLY bad hunting/fishing videos.

    Good Luck,

    Tim

    Hey there

I have recently upgraded from the Panasonic DVC30 to the DVX100a and am glad I did. The camera has many more features and the more I use it the more I love it. Are you able to rent one before you buy it?
I have found that the ease of use comes with each time I take it on a shoot. I’ve used cameras for over 12 years and this one is my favourite.
There is a training DVD and book you can purchase for around $60 that gives an overview of some of the popular questions about the camera.
