trying to render for dvd widescreen
Im doing a simple slideshow with images and some video. My objective is to play on a DVD on my TV which is 46′ sony widescreen HD. the vegas i am using is vegas studio movie platinum 9.0. and I will be using dvd architect 4.5 to burn the dvd.
So far i wasted 4 dvd’s trying to get my result. what im looking for is to make a video slide show to play on my tv on wide screen but with the best quality possible. I would like to take up the whole tv screen.
I used the crop pan tool on the images on the time line to reach the output ratio this way the image does take up the space. I have tried changing my project properties and i rendered in .mov, .wmv and mpg2 but i dont know what templates to use. thanks in advance!

I set my Vegas project to 1280 x 720, that gives me some zoom room on my 1920 x 1080 footage. I render this as a 1280 x 720 mpeg (.m2t). Then I drop that into DVDA and make sure my project settings are 16:9. I have had consistently good results by letting DVDA render it down to the 720 x 480 widescreen.

btw, my workflow includes in Vegas Pro 9, so I suppose there might be differences in Movie Studio 9, I have never worked with it.

To begin with what are your project properties?
I use Vegas Pro so I can only assume the following apply’s to Movie Studio also.
To begin with your project properties should match or be higher that what your final render will be. From the ‘Render As’ menu option you should choose MainConcept MPEG-2, you should see some DVD Architect templates, choose the one that’s applicable to your DVD settings. From there you open DVD architect and choose the MPEG-2 file you rendered.
What kind of DVD are you burning? A standard DVD or a Blu-Ray.? This will determine what template you use to render.

my project is set to 1920×1080 1 sq pixel aspect ratio. lower field first. 29.97 frame set. quality best. template is custom.
just tried to do mpg2 with nstc dvd architect widescreen video and it plays on windows media player but with no audio. plus quality isnt good on windows media player.

You didn’t say but I’m assuming this is a regular DVD and not Blu-ray.
If that’s the case, then “nstc dvd architect widescreen” is the only template you can use.
You’re 1/2 way there with the render option you chose.
The audio needs to rendered separately as an AC-3 file.
Make sure to give it the same name and render it to the same folder.
That way, when you load the video file into DVD Architect, the audio file will automatically follow.
BTW, windows media player is a horrible way to judge quality.
Since this is meant for TV, watching it there is the only way to judge quality. -
Thanks mike, I rendered it under ntsc widescreen dvd arch video, then rendered again as you said for audio using the ac3. then used dvd architect to burn and on the tv is fills the screen perfectly and quality isnt bad. thanks mike!
