    So here’s the situation…..
I am running Encore DVD version 1.5.1. On a PC, Windows XP, with 1GB of RAM and 3GHz of processing power.

I produced a DVD with a few menus and buttons. After I finished it, and the client was happy, I thought it would be a good move to archive the project assett files to a data DVD in case the client wanted to later make changes. Well, fast forward one year, and I am being asked to make some updates. The problem: When I copy all these archived files to my hard drive, and then try to open the project, I get the typical windows error sound, and Encore shuts down. I was hoping that I would be able to relink the media, (like when media files are moved around in explorer and you relink them in Premiere Pro).
    The project wont even open.

No error message, just a sound that tells me something is wrong, followed by Encore closing.

I have retained all of the original files, as well as the Cache Foler, the Source folder, the CurrWorkspace.xml file, the ProjectPrefs.xml file, and everything else that was generated from the original project.

Does anyone have a grasp on whats going on here?

    Thanks in advance,

    George

    Hey,

Just a thought…sometimes when you copy files from a cd-dvd to a hard drive, they remain in their ‘read-only’ state until you turn it on. Try turning off the ‘read-only’ property by right-clicking on the copied folder/files, go to Properties, then unchecking ‘read-only’.

    Take care,

    Nick
