Trying to import XDCAM footage
Hey guys I have an external hard drive with tons of quicktimes that were shot on a Sony XDCAM EX and I’m trying to import it into either Avid or Final Cut. I don’t think I can import it into FCP because I’m using version 5.1.4. I use Avid Media Composer 3. I’m having trouble just watching a quicktime of it too. I open the quicktimes and the sound is there but not the video. I have QT Pro v7.6.4. What do I need to do to get this footage working?

Where did these Quicktimes come from? The JVC camera? Or were they imported by another NLE?
If it is from the JVC camera, then FCP won’t see it because yes, your version is too old. And that camera was designed to shoot QTs that are compatible with FCP. The other option would be to get a decoder from Calibrated:
