  • Trying to import an After Effects comp as a menu.

Posted by Jon Henry on September 22, 2010 at 4:11 pm

    Hey team,
I have made a motion menu in After Effects. Whenever I “dynamic link” it into encore, is show up as an Aftrer Effects composition, but I can’t make it into a menu. I have made custom buttons in the comp, but the comps aren’t showing me any layers.
Am I missing a step? I have the ae comp in encore, and need to make it act like a menu, with all the butons etc.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Ian

    Hi Ian,

You need to assign the AE project as a Video asset of your menu under the Motion Tab of your Menu Properties.

Alternatively you can click on a blank menu in Encore, Menu –> Create After Effects Comp (which does the above for you and launches AE) and then import your comp that you’ve already made in AE.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your suggestion.
I now have the comp in Encore, it is a menu…but the buttons I’ve designated (with the (+)) and their respective subpicture highlights are not functioning at all. In the layers panel, it all shows up as one layer “background”.
    I’m absolutely baffled.

Here’s a sample project and screenshot to show you the way I did it.

    Hope that helps.
