I have a general workflow question and was wondering how you editors would do the following:

Let’s say you’re doing a 30 second spot for a company. In the middle of the project you’ve removed 3 seconds, let’s say, now at the end you need to add those 3 seconds back.

Is the best workflow simply to go to the end and drag clips out 3 secs?

Is there a more exact way? Sometimes dragging events to an exact amount can be tricky.

    Thanks.

Add a new video track then copy the event to it, grab the end of the new event and drag until the change indicator says 3:00.

Remember, an event is only the in/out pointers to the media. You are not splitting anything.

When I need to extend something an exact amount I will make a timeline selection, go down to the selection length readout in the bottom right of the timeline, and I type the exact amount that I want. Then I extend my event to fill this new selection with snapping on so the event end snaps to the selection end.
