just got a project back from post production but there are no render files. so I need to rerender and in order to do so i need to free up space on the hard drive. I’ve deleted over 10 gigs of media from an old project. but FCP doesn’t recognize the new space and won’te complete the rendering. any suggestions????? this is driving me crazy. thanks!

    Dave

working on FCP 5.0.4 and quad 2.5 PowerMac with a Lacie 120g FW hard drive partitioned into a scratch disk and an exeternal storage disk. set rendering to the external storage.

Just a thought, when you deleted the files on your external, did you empty the trash? They won’t be deleted until you do.

thank you both. I feel like a dunderhead. I hadn’t emptied the trash because I was worried I might have deleted something I needed, but with a little more care I followed instructions and of course it worked out fine.
