  • Trying to create a Track Matte, no luck

So I am following this tutorial, https://www.ayatoweb.com/ae_tips_e/ae49_e.html.

I created my face image, I made a 2600×1950 text image (white text, black background, PSD file). I setup my layers, 1) face image 2) text image 3) face image. On the #3 face image I set the alpha track matte to the text image and followed their settings in their step 3 timeline screenshot and no luck. All it does is is go from 100% and fades down a bit and then the colors change a bit. I don’t even see any resemblance of the text image. They are trying to fade from face to text.

Can someone explain Step 3 a little clearer and perhaps tell me what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks
    Tom

    Hi
[tommmm] “I made a 2600×1950 text image (white text, black background, PSD file).”

You don’t need a background, that’s the reason why your Alpha Matte doesn’t work.It would work if you’d use a Luma Matte instead of an Alpha Matte 🙂

    Thanks Julian, that fixed it.

Now on Step 4 they use the Card Dance plugin to create concave and convex shapes (3d face made out of the text image) based on the face image. Does anyone understand how they are doing this? I’m totally lost on how they are doing this, if anyone has an idea I appreciate it.

    Thanks
    Tom
