Trying to capture from Sony DCR-PC9E *NOT* iSight
Hi.
I’m trying to capture some miniDV footage from a DCR-PC9E via a FW-800 cable, using Premier CS4 on a Mac Pro
I can’t find any way for it to detect the camera and the only capture device I have available is the built in iSight.
Can anyone help?

You need to go into your System Preferences and verify that you are using Firewire and not USB. Your iSight camera is a USB device.
I also wonder if Premiere Pro’s capture preferences are set up correctly as well.

Forgive me if I sound a little stupid asking this, but where in System Preferences should I be looking to change from Firewire to USB device?

OK, I’m working with Premiere on a PC not a
Mac (we’ll transition to FCS when we move to the Mac and that is what I use at home).In Premiere Pro, look at your Preferences>Capture or Preferences>Device Control (I’m using Premiere Pro 1.5 on a pee cee, so that is as close as I can get to what you are using on the Mac) and that is where the settings changes ought to be. You might also look for Video Hardware as well (if there is such a selection, which may be placed in your Preferences by any PCI-X card you have installed in your Mac, like the BlackMagic or AJA cards).
