trying some stop-motion short cuts
So, I’m doing a stop motion project and everything is going fine using the orthodox method (moving the object frame by frame and snapping a pic). However, for part of the project; I have to be outside a store front on a busy street. An object is supposed to scuffle along the side walk and enter the front door. Now, I can’t take up the entire side walk for hours while I shoot this stop motion scene.
So, I thought of maybe I’d attach some very strong fishing line to the said object and pull it along the side walk while filming the action. Then I’d just use AE’s wire removal filter to kill the strings. After eliminating the string, I would then just cut out every other frame or so until I got that stop action look.
Now, I’ve never used AE’s Wire removal filter and don’t know how well it works. I will do some tests but am trying to get a grasp as to what this is going to entail in the mean time.
Does anyone foresee any “Gotchyas” or problems with this approach?
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks.
