I am trying to chroma key using the Ultimatte Advantedge plug-in and my edges are crawling all over the place . . . it’s just not solid. Any suggestions? I’ve been working on it for several hours and still having problems. Source is BetaSP. Talent dressed in light blue shirt/black pants shot against green screen.
    Thanks!

Could be a number of things:

    1. When you digitize you get the cleanest key by bringing it in “component” instead of “composite”

    2. There are a number of check boxes on the lower right of the interface—after you select your background make sure to activate “clean” and “Roto”

    3. Ultimatte also has excellant tech support and have found them very helpful.

    Good Luck

Thanks, I’ll try that. Another question . . . I need to output this scene as a quicktime movie with an embeded alpha channel for use in a Flash project . . . talent will be interacting with text over white limbo . . . Do I need to create the matte and fill in different passes or is there a way to ouput this from Avid timeline?

Sue, you’d be best off doing this in After Effects, just for that alpha channel reason.
