    Trouble with RAM install

    Ordered RAM from Crucial. All is going well except I can’t get my G5 to recognize the ships in slots 4 and 5. Have tried reseating a couple of times. Any other thoughts?

    OS 10.4.2
    G5 DP2Ghz (8 DIMM machine)

    Hi,

    Are you installing the RAM in the proper slots (paired)?

    If so its either a problem with the RAM or the MB.

    Hi Scott,

    The RAM is supposed to be installed in one DIMM of the pair in each bank starting from the center of the banks and working toward the outside. If you have done that and they are seated properly it has to be a problem with the chips or the mother board.
