Until a couple of weeks ago I had the Adobe Creative Cloud. After fixing a computer problem, the Creative Cloud had not been able to check in with Adobe on the internet for over a month. Because of this I could not activate my Adobe Programs. During a 2.5 hour technical support call, the programs were re-activated. The next day I spent a couple of hours updating the Adobe programs. A few days later I went to use Premier Pro and it was not activated. During another 2.5 hour technical support call an Adobe technical Support girl in India deleted all my Adobe Programs with the promise that she would put them back on afterward. When it was time to put my programs back on she now said I would have to install Windows 10. Because I refused, I no longer have any of my Adobe Programs and Adobe has shown no sympathy or compassion. All I wanted is the latest versions of the programs that were already running on my computer. Adobe has been unwilling to give my programs back.

I was able to buy a stand alone version of Adobe Premiere Pro 2018. But it will not open my Premier projects. This is the big mystery.

Apparently Premiere Pro 2019 can not be installed on Windows 7, so Premiere Pro 2018 is the latest version that could have been on my computer. I don’t know the latest version that was installed on the computer, or the latest version I was using. Part of the problem is all the programs and shortcuts were deleted. The latest Adobe Premier shortcut I found in the recycle bin is 2016.

When I try to open one of my projects in Premiere Pro 2018, it tells me the project was created in a later version and cannot be opened. When I open a Premiere Project file last modified before 5-28-2019, it opens after telling me it was created in an older version of Premier Pro.

Apparently I updated to a newer version sometime between 4-14-2019 and 5-28-2019.

I did do the available updates to this new Premier Pro 2018. The version I now have is Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2018 Version 12.0.0(Build 224).

Can anyone tell me why I can’t open my later projects ?

Is there a way to find the version an Adobe Premiere Pro was saved with, from the project file ?

Can it be that there was a version of Premiere Pro 2019 that would install and run on Windows 7 ? I bought a stand alone version of Premiere Pro 2019 but it will not install on my computer.

I don’t remember how to do it but there is a way to open a Premiere Pro 2019 project in 2018. I had to do it on my current project and it worked fine. If you google you should be able to find out how to do it, that’s how I found out. Make sure you have a back up in case anything goes wrong, but nothing went wrong for me.

I found it and it worked. I changed the version from 35 to 34 and it opened without any messages. Thank you. Here is a link to the answer on YouTube:
