    Hi everybody,

I’m having trouble mastering my final project to digibeta. I’m using a DVW500P and an updated Aja IOHD.

I have never used this digibeta for recording, only for capturing. Capturing always goes well, even today, but now I need to master a project and there’s two things that go wrong.

First is that when I black and code a new tape, it will not start recording the timecode I said FCP to give it.

Second is that when I do master something to tape, it doesn’t record the audio correctly. I can monitor the audio when I wind the tape, but not when I play it, or atleast not from a certain (random) point on the tape. It does this only with the tapes I mastered, not with any other tapes. Unfortunately I can not check the recording on a different device.

Both issues do not occur when I master to Beta SP. So I guess both problems have to do with the TC settings of the DVW500. Could I be right? f so, can anybody tell me what settings I need to apply to make the DVW500 work with Final Cut?

    Thank you for your time,

    Gunther

I always use the deck to set the TC and to black the tape. Either the entire tape if there’s time or just enough to assemble on.

when going to digi did you make sure you set your aja control panel to SDI? also did you make sure that the control panel has the correct audio setting as well as the deck. For instance if you want to lay audio using SDI embedded, you need to make sure it’s selected in the control panel and also need to make sure your deck is set to SIF input.

… also, you will need a blackburst-generator when you want to go to Beta-SP

Thanks a lot guys, it was indeed the blackburst and reference settings. Both problems seem to be solved now, but I will check on a different player to be 100% sure.

    Cheers,

    Gunther.
