  • Trouble w/Graphics when Exporting DVCPro HD 720p sequence to NTSC

Hoping someone can help. When I export a DVCPro HD 720p 60i sequence to an NTSC 720 x 480 30p AVI file (uncompressed) the positioning of my graphics is off. If a graphic (jpg, psd, tiff, gif) extends outside of the frame in the original sequence, in the export everything will be shrunk so that the entire graphic is visible, extending over the boundaries of the main image. But the positioning in general is off. Except for when things are perfectly centered, the position I put it in will be either higher or lower in the export.
When i export to H.264, things are perfectly normal. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Try exporting at 854×480 square pixels and see if that solves it.

I see, so are going to DVD or tape?

If it’s for a DVD, what encoder are you using ?

Where are you seeing the footage with issues, on a media player?

Are you exporting to AVI using the widescreen (1.2) aspect ratio?

You could also export to Quicktime animation using the widescreen setting since QT seems to work for you.

Thanks, Vic, that worked. Only trouble is, when I convert it to a 720×480 mpg (which I need to do for broadcast, and I can’t control the settings on that conversion) it’s completely anamorphic. Any other ideas?
