Trouble selecting keyframes
Posted by Susan Kehl on October 30, 2018 at 1:30 amI’m in FCPX and am trying to copy and paste a string of keyframes. Shift clicking is not working and selecting with the drag box isn’t either. I can’t even select one keyframe. What am I doing wrong?

You can use the Range tool (R) and select the area around the key frames – you should see them turn white – in my case – then go to the edit>keyframes>copy. Place your playhead where you want them to be placed and edit>keyframes>paste.HTH

October 30, 2018 at 12:21 pmHi Lawrence,
Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, this does not work either. I am seeing other keyframes for different effects as white in the video animation editor, while this effect’s (ripple) keyframes, for the same clip no less, are black and unselectable. The effects are turned on in the inspector, the clip is turned on, and the effect itself is turned on. Is there some way I would have turned the keyframes off by accident? I don’t even know if it’s possible to turn keyframes on and off. Thank you again,
Susan

November 2, 2018 at 2:00 pmHello,
Sorry for the late response. I have figured it out with the help of an instructor. The trouble was that I was in a certain aspect of the effect on the actual video animation editor. There’s a dropdown menu on each effect that I wasn’t aware of. Once I selected the one I desired, I was able to use the range tool and copy and paste keyframes. I am not sure why the aspect I was in wasn’t allowing me to do that.
Thank you again for your help!
Susan
