I’m trying to rip a DVD-R to edit in Final Cut Pro. I run OS 10.7. First I try installing MacTheRipper and I get a message along the lines “PowerPC applications are no longer supported.” Then I do some research and find that MPEG Streamclip is actually the application of choice by professionals. However, when I attempt to open the DVD I get a message that states, “The Apple Quicktime MPEG-2 Playback Component is not installed.” So I go on the Apple website and buy said component and when I attempt to install it the message appears, “QuicktimeMPEG2 can’t be installed on this disk. This software is intended for an earlier version of Mac OS X.” I’m at a loss. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
