  Trouble Rendering–Pixelated in Rendering Preview after first minute and Pixelated after first minute when playback on PC but issue resolves at second minute for rest of movie

  Hi. I am trying to render several clips edited in Adobe After Effects to be combined together into a 00;04;10;12 (hrs;min;sec;frame) long video plus 9 seconds of photographs for a total movie length of 00;04;19;12.

  When I tried to render in avi-AVC, it was pixelated in the rendering preview after the first minute and pixelated after the first minute when playback on PC. The source files when I play them in AAE they have no pixelated problems. When I play the project before rendering, there are no pixelated problems. It is a problem with the rendering.

  What is even more interesting is that the problem resolves at the second minute of the video after I pause the video to let it buffer, but when I pause the video at the first minute of the video to let it buffer it doesn’t improve the quality.

  Here is the broken mp4 video uploaded to YouTube. The MPEG-4 layer audio codecs are also broken in the video the way I rendered it. So do you think the cause of the mp4 problems it might be that I don’t have the latest version of QuickTime installed, bc I only have the free version of QuickTime installed on my laptop probably factory installed from my laptop has a sticker that says it was built in 2005? (I have a 3 GB RAM 80 GB HDD Lenovo ThinkPad that back then was probably worth $2000 as it was the top of the line computer in 2005 and I bought it in 2011 for only $100 from a local family owned and run computer repair store ).

  What version of QuickTime do I need to export to mp4 and not have the mpeg-4 audio not work?

  Could this be that my computer doesn’t have enough RAM?

  Hard disc drive RPM is not a problem bc I installed Sony Vegas Pro onto a 7500 RPM external HDD since my HDD C drive is only 5400 RPM.

  Could it be that my background is too detailed for that minute of the movie causing the target focused scene of the movie to blurry? Would blurring the background for that minute resolve the problem?

  The background does have a lot of motion and detail. The background is of an audience in the pit at a metal concert. The target focus scene of the movie is the stage. I am at the stage right next to the loud speaker. It is a small local venue.

  I tried rendering the same clips in mp4 at 4mbps video bit rate with the same results. So maybee this isn’t a RAM problem or a HDD RPM problem, so what could the problem be?

  I have Sony Vegas Pro 10.

  My O.S. specifications are:

  Lenovo ThinkPad
  Dual Core Processor 2.1 GHZ
  Hard disc drive 80 GB 5400 RPM
  External hard disc drive Simple Tech USB 2.0 320 GB 7500 RPM
  RAM 3 GB
  Windows Vista 32 bit Service Pack 2
  DirectX11 video card
  Conexant high definition audio and video

  What am I doing wrong? Moreover, what can I do to resolve this issue?

  EDIT: The problem with the avi rendering is resolved somehow by YouTube and also when I watched it with 1.2 GB free space on HDD compared to watching it with 200MB free space on HDD. YouTube somehow fixed the pixelated effect from time 1 minute to time 2 minute.
  It does appear that the pixelated effect was fixed by YouTube and I only saw the pixelated effect when I only had 200MB free space on my HDD and when I cleared HDD to 1.2 GB free space the problem resolved. So now we now that the minimum ammount of HDD free space to view movies in HD 1080 on YouTube is about 1.2 GB and only 200 MB will cause a pixelated effect after the first minute of the movie. However, I did have 3 GB of HDD free space when I was rendering the avi in Sony Vegas Pro 10, so that still is a problem on the end of Vegas Pro not my HDD, bc not only that 3 GB on c drive, but also I have Vegas Pro installed on an external HDD that has 160 GB of free space left. So I still am not quite sure what caused the problem, but I’m glad that YouTube fixed it and clearing up free space on my local HDD c drive allowed me to see that fix that YouTube made for free.

  Does anyone know what could have caused Vegas Pro to have that trouble rendering that avi?

  EDIT 2: The problem with the MPEG-4 layer audio failing to play is resolved by a software that I have obtained for free called “Tippard Total Media Converter”. It has QuickTime codecs bundeled in it. So now we have learned that problems rendering in Vegas Pro 10 with MPEG-4 layer audio in mp4 video files are likely a result of you not having purchased QuickTime Pro which has all of the codecs you need. Get the QuickTime Pro codecs bundeled in for free when you buy Tippard Total Media Converter (which I have obtained for free).
