  • trouble loading in sony footage (again!)

I’m trying to import footage from the Sony HD TV camera, I think it’s a Z7; when I firewire the camera up to my computer final cut says that it can’t see it and I should change my settings. I’ve tried various combinations of settings to no avail; I’ve tried searching the forum and even though I found similar problems, I couldn’t find a satisfactory answer. Also I’ve checked the firewire by connecting up my Panasonic and everything works fine.

So I was wondering if anyone out there could help me set up my project to ingest this Sony footage.

    Many thanks

Be sure that you have the right settings for capture. Go to Final Cut Pro, Audio/Video Settings. Device Control Preset should be set to Sony HDV Firewire. Also be sure that your capture preset matches your camera output (selectable on the menu in the camera or on the deck). This problem gets everyone at some point. Have a great day!
