Trouble Inserting .AVI files Into Timeline
I received some footage in avi format. No problem right? Wrong. 🙁
I am unable to insert it into the timeline. When I Import it, all I get is a spacer pic that says “AVI” in it and again I can then not put it in the timeline.
Before posting this I did some research on here and I found this thread:

Basically says I probably don’t have the correct CODEC installed. Run the footage thru Gspot and it’ll tell you if the proper CODEC is installed on your PC.
This made sense to me so I then downloaded GSpot and had it analyze the footage. But it’s telling me that the status for both the video and the audio is : “Codec(s) are Installed”
So, now I’m confused. I suppose I could do more dogging in GSpot. Perhaps I have the CODECS to view but not to edit in Vegas? But from the other thread I referenced it appears you either have the CODEC or you don’t.
Idearz??? 🙂
Alternatively, I did use Moyea video4web converter to convert the files from avi to mp4. And they do insert into the timeline just fine. But in the conversion process it throws off the audio from the video by about 4 seconds. I suppose I could just move the audio in the timeline but I’ll never get it perfect and I’m concerned that the 4 sec difference is not constant throughout the footage.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
