Trouble Importing video
Hi,
I have been having a bit of a problem importing DV into FCP 4.1 (or 4.5, for that matter. . .) I am running G4, 867 MHz, 640 SDRAMM. . .on 10.3.9, still on Quicktime 6.5.2.
OK, so I try using Capture Now and usually we get the “Waiting for timecode” message on the import window, but then it grabs the timecode and import until you tell it to stop. What’s happening with me is that I never get the “Waiting for Timecode” message; instead I get a message telling me it’s allocating memory or something to that effect. But then it freezes up. I have to reboot, but before going into FCP, I have to go into the project’s capture scratch file and delete a file called “untitled-av” which takes up the entire hard drive. I trash it, try the whole process again and maybe on the SIXTH try it starts capturing the video.
I have gone into Disk Utilities and done the repair permissions thing, I’ve done the DiskWarrior thing, but it happens again and again. . .whether I am capturing to the boot drive OR the external firewire drive. Mind you, this is a new problem; been using FCP for a few years and it’s the first tme I’ve encountered this.
For kicks, I imported the video into I-Movie and it worked fine.
Anything I’m missing?
Thanks,
Glenn
