    Hello –

I’m loading footage into AVID this morning for a project, and hit a road block. Any help here will save my life!

I was delivered sequential TIFF files on a Lacie drive, and am attempting to import them using the autodetect feature.

I am getting an error message that it cannot delete the file because it is busy. I suspect that it might be because the file names are too long, about 39 characters!

Is this the case? Is there an easy way to work around this? It’s thousands of files, and the only thing I can think of is manually renaming each file, which would take days or longer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks.

I dont know of an automated way to rename them
    can the dude re-render em?
have you tried importing them into AE and rendering a quicktime?

You can batch re-name them in Photoshop or other image editing programs. These programs should allow you to sequentially number them as well.

You can also look at doing a few hundred at a time, to see if that helps.

There’s a free program for the PC called CkRename which might help you also.
