I recently bought a new computer.

I put a bunch of video files on an external hard drive to transfer them to my new computer. They are avi files.

However, I can add them to a Vegas project, but when I try to drag them to the timeline they are not allowing me to. It is showing the “No” signal (red with a line through it)

I should mention that the files I am trying to import, were imported through a software system that changes old movie reels to avi files (Cinecap). That system does not support a 64 bit operating system. So I am not sure if this is a Vegas problem or a Cinecap problem.

Is there someway I can look/change these files to find out what the problem is? Would this have anything to do with the operating system I imported them on..32 bit vs 64 bit? My old computer was a 32, the new one is 64.

I still can use them on my old computer, so I know they aren’t corrupt or anything.

If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be great.

My guess is that the CineCap codec is one that Vegas doesn’t recognize.
All I can suggest is contacting the manufacturer through their website.
Explain your situation and see if they can help.
