  • Trouble exporting QT file from FCP5 to AE 5.5

Posted by Kbtvjon on January 24, 2007 at 8:52 pm

I’m trying to simply render a Quicktime file from my FCP 5.0 system to transfere to my After Effects 5.5 so I can edit the footage there. Let me clarify what I mean. I’m not trying to transfere the timeline or anything. I already worked on some footage to my liking and am just trying to render it to a quicktime file. Then I want to add some more effects to the rendered footage in AE or us the footage as an element in another work. Pronblem is everytime I try to transfere the file my AE 5.5 does not recognize it. It’s driving me crazy.

My FCP5 and AE 5.5 are on separate Macs. I can not get my AE 5.5 to run with OSX so I have to do it this way. What settingsshould I use for rendering the file so it will read?

    Thanks!

Export as a QUicktime Movie, self contained…using the sequence settings. Then in AE, set the project up to match those settings so when you export back, it’ll drop right in without the need to render.
