    trying to export a 1:30 clip for the web… using QT conversion with default settings… looks great on my desktop… horrible and out of fous when uploaded onto the web… tried compressor keep getting “unable to connect to background process” message… also how do i retain my 16:9 ratio in quicktime (keeps condensing the image)

    it only looks horrible when uploaded onto the web? by the web im guessing youtube which does the video conversion on its end? What do you expect, everything on the web looks horrible and out of focus.

    there is no reason for a clip to look different in your Finder than when downloaded, unless have been a recompression. Are you uploading the clip to YouTube, Vimeo or so?

    The pixels will be displayed as Square by QT player, so you need to set a size that keeps the 16×9 proportions: 480×270 or 320×180..

    Another important thing is de-interlacing when going to the web. You better do it your self in FC instead of letting QT doing so when exporting.
