Trouble editing 10-bit sequence with new v2 software for Xena LH card and PP2
Posted by Brent Myers on June 19, 2006 at 11:50 amI have just installed the new v2 software from AJA for use with the Xena LH AJA card and Premiere Pro 2. I am able to import both 8-bit and 10-bit component video now. The problem is that putting any simple transition, such as a video dissolve on a 10-bit sequence crashes Premiere Pro 2. I have no problem with an 8-bit sequence. Can anyone help with this problem.

My LH drivers are not installed at the moment, But I will see if I can make time to reinstall them and reproduce your problem.
(There is no problem with the drivers AFAIK, I just wanted to eliminate the AJA Project Presets from the software visually for some training I’m doing…)

June 19, 2006 at 11:31 pmHmmm…I see.
It seems to work if you change the playback settings under “Render Color Space” to “RGB” instead of “YUV/RGB” which was set in mine by default…
I know that AJA does monitor this board so the fact that it seems verified will definitely not fall on deaf ears, rest assured.
See if this workaround solves the issue…at least for the moment.

This is a known issue, and should be resolved in our next “dot” release, scheduled very soon. We will post on this page when updates are available.
Thank you,

June 22, 2006 at 4:16 amA small product plug. Prospect HD will work with the AJA Xena LH with Premiere Pro, and the transitions are real-time. Yes, it is a compressed workflow vs your current uncompressed setup — they are not mutually exclusive. Forum moderator Tim Kolb is using it. Sorry Tim for outting you. 🙂 Brent, have you considered a trail?

This is true, and a trial version is available. The CineForm codec is second to none for image quality vs. data rate in my opinion and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a solution of that type (and do when I attend tradeshows on CineForm’s behalf from time to time…with my AJA card carrying the video/audio I/O responsibilities of course). It works with the LH and as David says you can work on projects with CineForm or AJA project settings on the same system.

July 6, 2006 at 3:12 pmThis month CineForm is aggressivily pricing Prospect HD to get customers into a Xena LHe card. If you already owe Aspect HD the upgrade to Prospect HD Edit is effectively free with the purchase of the LHe card through CineForm. That are several other pricing options available https://www.cineform.com/products/ProspectHD.htm#PHD_Pricing

August 15, 2006 at 1:16 amI noticed on your blog the numbers for the woodcrest xeons. I am curious about the
mobo used and if you were using the LH(e) or pci-x AJA card.
I am considering going the Prospect route with the AJA LH card. At this point in time I have been
unable to nail down a validated mobo. AJA only certifies turnkeys. Are you recommending any particular
board for use with the Woodcrest Xeon 3.0 and the Cineform Prospect package?

August 15, 2006 at 6:09 amWe just got in an HP xw8400 with 3Ghz Woodcrest Xeons for test as a reference platform. The previous woodcrest system was a pre-production workstation from Intel.

August 15, 2006 at 8:47 pmDave,
I received this email from AJA about the 8400.Hello,
I have the Dell 690 here 2 of the PCIe slots are a bit slow for the LH card
based on the motherboard design. The HP XW6400 & XW8400 are both *NOT*
qualified for the LH card but work fine with the 2K card. I have yet to try
the Boxx 8300.AJA only tests and certifies complete systems. We don’t look at individual
motherboards.Will Simpson
AJA Video Technical SupportWhich model is the 2k card? I know for Apple it is the Kona 3.
