trouble dragging still images from project window to composition
Im new to AE, so this question may and hopefully is basic, though i couldn’t find an answer in the book or on the forum yet. Here it is:
When I drag a sized and prepped still image from my Project Window into my Compostion, or into the Timeline, the image in the compostion window has a transform box around it and is non-proportional to what it looks like in Photoshop. I have an image that is 7000 x 3950, though looks like 7000 x 6000 in the compostion window. Whats that all about?
If I view the image in its own layer, it will show me a correctly dimmesional image. So why when i want to pan or zoom it in the compostion window and timeline is it giving me a misrepresented image non proportional to what it looks like in photoshop or in its own layer in AE?

nevermind. I solved this simple little issue by dragging over image and clicking opt. and going to transform and then to scale with aspect ratio check at 100% by 100% of source.
If theres a way around this step so i don’t have to do that everytime, let me know.

Sounds like you might be using a 0.9 pixel aspect ratio comp and your Photoshop image is created in square pixels. Change you Comp settings PAR to Square pixels.

ok, got found it, thanks for the tip. i was actually using a pixel aspect ration of 1.5 for dvcpro1080
i changed the aspect ration to square pixels.
