  • Trouble capturing XL2 24p Advanced footage in Vegas 6

No matter what I try, I am getting glitchy unusable video/audio in Vegas 6 while both previewing and viewing the footage from the XL2 I shot with. It’s not a VTR problem, as I have tried playing back on both a Sony TRV17 and an XL1s. The footage looks fine when played back from the XL1s on a regular SD TV.

I have tried both the 24p DV and 24p Widescreen DV presets with the 23.97 framerate. I’ve also tried regular 29.97 with no luck. “Allow pulldown removal” in the general tab is checked, and I also tried capturing whilst unchecked to no avail. When I go to the settings for the “Microsoft DV Camera and VCR” capture codec under the capturing program’s video menu, I just get greyed out boxes with no data.

I tried capturing the garbled footage and ended up with a horrendously artifacted video recorded in PAL. (although the audio was 32k – I’m not sure what the audio specs for PAL’s audio are)

I haven’t seen this question posed online much, so I figure I must be doing something pretty silly. Can anyone help me out? My system is a P4 2ghz running XP SP2. I have tried Vegas 5 and Premiere 6.5 as well and gotten the same problem.
