  • Trouble capturing HDV on FCP

Posted by Jon Boffa on January 9, 2006 at 12:59 am

Just shot some HDV footage on Sony HDR-FX1. Captured footage in FCP 5.0.3.
    Capture settings:
    Device Control: DVDPRO HD FireWire
    Capture/Input: DVDPRO HD – 1080i50…

Checked the clip properties and frame size is 720 x 480. Why isn’t it still in the 1080 HDV res?

    Please help.

    Thanks,
    JB

Your settings are wrong. If you’re using a HDV camera or deck you have to set both the device and capture settings to HDV (1080i 50).

Just checked and I’ve been shooting in 1080i60, not …50.
But regardless of that, based on last post, would fact that settings didn’t match mean the capture default then becomes 720×480?

    HI,

The Sony FX1 is a HDV1080I Camera not a DVC Pro HD..

Use the easy set up ( Control Q ) in Final Cut Pro and select HDV 1080i and FCP will do the rest in selecting the parameters…
That’s here to help you 😉
