Trouble Capturing HDV footage
I’ve been trying to figure this out for hours but to no avail. Please help!
I’m using Final Cut Pro 5 with the latest version of OS X on a newer iMac. I shot some 1080i footage with my new Canon XHA1 and have it hooked up to the mac with a 4-pin to 6-pin Firewire 400 cable. I used the HDV-1080i60 Easy Setup option. When I open the Log and Capture window, I can control the camera functions from the computer but I can’t preview the footage in the window. Also, I can capture the footage (I have to use the viewfinder to preview it as it captures), but when I drag the clip to my timeline, it comes in un-rendered and has a different aspect ratio than my canvas (a little shorter). I can’t even watch the clip without doing a very time-consuming render. I’ve changed the canvas aspect ratio to every available shape in the Sequence Settings box, hoping it would solve the render problem, but there’s no match. Any ideas?
