Trouble adding keyframes
I am currently trying to add a variable speed change to a clip in FCP7.
I have the “toggle clip keyframes” selected so I can see the strip below my clip on the sequence timeline. BUT when using either the basic selection tool, or the pen tool when I go to click on it to add my keyframe it simply shows a small black x beside my mouse pointer and does nothing when i click on it. I cannot figure out what I am doing or not doing correctly.
It is not a raw clip it is a nested sequence, but should that matter?

Variable speed doesn’t work with certain FCP media types: multiclips and nested sequences. You need to export as QT first, reimport, then retime your new clip.

Thank you for the response Kevin. I figured it was something like that, though I don’t understand why it would work any different than a constant speed change, which it allows me to do no problem. Then again that’s probably why I use the software and don’t write it.
