tripple split frame with moving mask problem

There is no way to avoid this. If the subject of the mask is moving, the mask must move along with it. You need to keyframe the masks movements to maintain the mask over the subject. Tools like Boris FX have motion tracking which will help you do this but with Vegas alone you need to create this motion manually yourself.

If you created the mask using the Mask tool in Pan/Crop this shouldn’t be to hard to do. Turn Sync Cursor on in the Mask timeline. Then just move the mask as the subject moves and Vegas will create new keyframes.

hi again,

yes i know that i’ve have to move the mask by hand but the mask wanders all over the frame and not the clip in the mask. i need the mask to stay firm on one side of the frame and the clip is moving inside teh mask.

If you want the mask to remain in the same place and move the video under it then you might want to make the mask a separate track. This will allow you to move the video any way you want while maintaining the mask in the same position.

i tink i managed it.

first video layer mediagenerator”split screen” white/black (compositon mode=multiply)parent compiste mode=add
composition child=movie for the left split screen

second video layer “split screen” black/white (compositon mode=multiply)
composition child=movie for the right split screen.

or is there any better way???

Yes that’s it. I usually add a Generated Media Solid White to the upper track and cut the mask out of that, then change the composite mode to Multiple (Mask) and make the track under it a child. This sounds like what you did. This keeps the mask independent of the event it’s masking.
