    Hello all,
I need help in trimming/cropping a layer without disturbing the settings on the object I want to keep. I took our company logo 2063 X 640 in size and imported into AE6.5. I then added the “cc Sphere” effect and animated it to look like a spinning globe with a black background….looks great. However, being a novice, I cannot figure out how to “export” the COMP into a video format @ 640 X 480 without turning the “Globe” into an egg. Is there a way to simply “cut & paste” or “Clone” just the globe w/effects into another layer for use in a web page or PowerPoint presentation? BTW: I’m using a PC with WIN-XP.
    Thanks in advance!

You should try to ‘pre-comp’ your comp.
Create a new comp with your video settings 720×480 or whatever, then drag your comp into that comp. It should keep your layer intacted. You will then probably need to scale it down to fit in the comp.

    Good Luck,

    Hi Todd,

Thank you for the quick response! I created a second comp with the correct (New) video parameters but couldn’t figure out how to drag Comp1 into Comp2. Perhaps I did but didn’t move around far enough in Comp2 to see or find the result if it was there.
However, in trying this, I vaguely noticed the handles for the globe I created and then dragged to “Skew” or squash the globe so that when I export it, it looks like a round ball. A temporary work around for a slightly color blind guy?!?!?

    Thanks again!
    Mike
