Trimming Vid, then just save.. not re-encoding
Am I mad or is this another genius thing that should happen… can I not simply edit a video clip and just “save as” without going through an encoding process?
I have a big file, about 984 megs and I need to cut out about 5 minutes in the middle.
Trouble is, I then have to re-render down to a new file which means setting a codec and all.
I’m just trying to find some app that will act like Photoshop essentially;.. open a tif, crop a little and save. Done. No worrying about changing parameters (in this case encoding).
Can this be done and I’m just overlooking it or is there some reason a video editing app cannot simply cut and save the file?

i might be missing the point but cant quick time pro do that ?

Yep.
With Quicktime Pro, you simply open the video, set the in (I) and out (O) points of the section to be deleted. Then you just cut and save.
