Trimming stock video?
Posted by Steve Voltmer on March 4, 2010 at 4:14 pmI am new to Motion and was wondering if there was a way to cut unwanted segments of FCP’s included template media? Example: there is a “Fire Burst” in the Template Media that I would just like to loop the end of the segment since it is a constant fire burst. Is this possible?

March 4, 2010 at 5:26 pmSure, just trim it to the part you want (in FCP, in Motion, or just in Quicktime Pro) and then save the new trimmed movie.

March 4, 2010 at 6:44 pmI just didn’t know where the trim tool is in motion. I can do it in another app, but I wanted to work within Motion. Thanks

March 4, 2010 at 6:52 pmJust add the video to the project and drag the ends of the bar in the mini-Timeline, or press I and O to set In and Out points, respectively. Then set a new play range that matches the new clip duration before exporting – but really you don’t need to export if you are just using the clip in Motion. After trimming, you can go to the timing section of the Properties inspector and set the end condition of the clip to loop, then drag it out as long as you need.

March 4, 2010 at 7:38 pmI am sorry to bother you again, but I just noticed that as soon as I set the in point for the clip another clip that started earlier is now not showing up. What do I do?
