I’m trimming with the JKL keys. During a roll edit, I want it to only play the audio from the outgoing clip, but sometimes FCP plays the audio from the incoming clip.

I have Dynamic Trimming on, and neither “trim with sequence audio” nor “trim with edit selection audio” seem to help (no matter what combination of them I use). It seems to have something to do with which side of the Trim Edit Window is clicked last…as odd that seems. I’ve also seen it play the outgoing clip when the Trim Edit Window is selected, but the incoming clip when the Timeline is selected.

Is there any way to control this?

    Thanks,
    -Dan

You could try marking in and out points for the specific spot you want to hear after your roll edit anywhere on the timeline if you know the shortcut. Hope that helps.

I’m not sure I know what you mean. I should set in an out points after the edit I’m trimming so I can hear the audio that I am going to trim into that area?

When making a roll edit with the JKL keys I want to be able to hear the audio as I make the edit, so I know where to stop. I think I found a solution, but it’s so ridiculous I feel liek there should be a simpler fix.

When the Trim Edit Window is open hover the mouse over the side of the window whose audio you want to hear. If you see the cursor turn into a ripple-edit tool, then it will play the audio from that side of the edit.
