    Hi there,

coming from Avid and FCP I´m now trying to get familiar with PPro.
I use trimming a lot and FCP offered a Trim Back/Fwd function where you select the clip/edit point (on a single or multiple track basis) and trim the clip(s) by one (or 10) frames. Depending on the type of trim mode (slip/slide, roll, etc.) the clip(s) will correspond.
Is there a similar shortcut within PPro?

    Thanks
    Rafael

You can’t select and trim edits like you can in FCP. Like Avid or using the Trim Edit Window in FCP, you have to pop open the Trim Monitor (trim mode) by pressing T, then use keyboard shortcuts to trim the edit. I wrote about it extensively in my blog: https://blogs.adobe.com/kevinmonahan/2011/07/01/keyboard-shortcuts-trimming-with-premiere-pro-cs4-cs5-cs5-5/

Would you like Premiere Pro to have selectable edits for which you can manipulate with keyboard shortcuts? Or better yet, full JKL dynamic trimming? Me too! For this, please make a feature request so we can get it into a future version: https://www.adobe.com/go/wish

I would. It was those little things that made FCP kick ass as far as editing was concerned. I sent in a big request last night, I think I’ll send in another about this.

Thanks Robert! If you see anything else you don’t care for, keep those feature requests coming in.

Not quite the same, but trimming in the timeline with “alt ,” and “alt .” moves a selected clip forwards or backwards one frame at a time. Holding down the shift key jumps clips 5 frames. Those two keys make sense, when you look at your keyboard. Again, not really a slip/slide function, but it has its uses.
