  • Trimmer Regions disappear with XAVC footage in Vegas

I’m Working in Sony Vegas Pro 12 with XAVC footage shot by the Sony A7s.
I can’t seem to save the trimmer regions/markers. After dropping a few regions or markers in the trimmer, if I simply click outside the program, the trimmer video switches from Video and audio to just Audio …with no regions. The regions remain in the clip on the timeline, but when I view that clip in the trimmer, the regions are not there and as soon as I drop a new marker or region in the trimmer, all of the old regions disappear from within the clip on the timeline. It’s crazy. I have the box checked in General preferences to automatically save trimmer regions/markers with media file. This only appears to happen with footage shot by this camera in the XAVC mode.

Bought and installed Vegas 13 and the problem persists. This is pretty crippling because I’m in the middle of a large project and rely on trimmer regions for my workflow/organization. I do all of my logging in the trimmer.
Any ideas? Sony is closed right now so I can’t get somebody there on the phone. Thanks!

    I tried:
    -upgrading to vegas 13
-renaming the files so that their file names are unique (the A7s has a lame naming system that results in redundant filenames every time you switch cards).
-opened a new vegas session and dropped one of the video clips onto the timeline, added trimmer regions, and had the same issue.

    I’m running out of ideas.

Although Sony Vegas claimed that that the Por 13 can support XAVC, but still got the same error, can import them properly. Then I choose to convet them in normal foramt, then reload them into Vegas

I’m in talks with Sony about this now. Doesn’t hurt to submit your own statement to Sony about it though. they act like I’m the only one that is having the issue. But since i’ve videotaped it happening on multiple computers with multiple versions of vegas, they are now looking into it and (hopefully) will release an update fixing the problem.

    Tim
I am nor sure if Sony will offer some solution during this Holiday break time. So I find myself a third-party software. They claimed that they can solve the XAVC problem, so I download and have a try , it do transfer the MXF in XAVC codec. If you would like to try, this one I used is MXF Multimixer, they said that the Mac version will update in next week.
    So let’s pray….
