Trimmer in Vegas nine can be very useful
I hesitate to post this because I don’t want to show my ignorance. But in the past there has been discussion about using the Trimmer in Vegas 9 at least. It was generally conceded that it was not very useful. But I have found a way to use it I’d like to tell you about. Bring up a video in the trimmer time line. I used a downloaded video for my dvd player/recorder. Put your cursor where you want to start and then use the right or left arrow to move the cursor. Works like a charm. The pictures can be as big as those in the preview window if you want. Actually bigger. The sound is not played though. Doyal

I can hardly recall ever using the trimmer in Vegas, and I’ve been using it since it came out, first few versions were audio only. It’s so easy to resize on the timelline, I don’t see a need for the trimmer. Alot of other video NLEs can’t drag the edges of an event on the timeline to shorten or increase the length of it, so they use a trimmer. Everyone has there preferences though.

Some additional thoughts on using the Trimmer…
Markers can be saved along with the parent media when using the Trimmer window. This feature helps me to identify and “log” those comment start and end points and save them to each parent media file. Then, if I reuse that content later for another project, the comments are already logged and ready to be dragged into timeline.
