Trim original video
Posted by Andy Baumgartner on June 6, 2014 at 9:21 pmHi, I’d like to share some clips I’ve created in premiere in their original format for use in another production. Is there a way to “trim” clips instead of exporting to a different coedc, so the quality is not degraded?
I am using windows and I’d like to avoid using a proprietary intermediate codec, but retain the original quality of the video.
Thanks!

June 9, 2014 at 3:49 pmHi, Steve. The original codec is h.264 from a Canon T3i. I have a windows machine, but the person who receives the footage may have a Mac or PC.
Thanks!

June 9, 2014 at 4:52 pmI use SolveigMM Video Splitter to trim the ends off of footage I sell for stock shot with my T3i.

June 9, 2014 at 7:46 pmPrelude doesn’t ‘re-encode’? Nice!

June 9, 2014 at 9:20 pmMay have that wrong.
I don’t think Prelude will allow you to destructively edit your source.
You can create partials from source though…

June 9, 2014 at 9:49 pmOh well. That’s the beauty of a tool like SolveigMM. The interface is a bit clunky, but if you’re only trimming of the head and tail, it’s not so bad.
