I would like to cross dissolve an entire timeline of video clips. However, I do not want any frames included in the cross-dissolve that are not already in the visible sequence (e.g., nothing from before or after the trimmed clips).

How can I trim all clips by 3 frames on both ends, then remove the gaps, then apply a cross-dissolve? Or, maybe configure the cross-dissolve function so it grabs the frames from the visible clip portions only?
