  • Treating a c4d file in AE as an obj

    Hey guys,

I’ve searched and scoured, and can’t find what I’m looking for.

So I’m up on the CC version of AE, and the c4d plugin works fine. Here’s what I’m trying to do.

Essentially, I want to model something in c4d, and bring it into AE and be able to use the camera and lights in after effects to make my scene. I can bring the file in, and see my model in the viewer, but as soon as I create a camera(in AE), its unable to see my model.

Seems like a simple thing, but it’s got me stumped.

    Thanks for any input,
    Lawren.

C4D and Ae use different coordinate systems. While C4D puts [0,0,0] in the center, Ae’s composition space puts [0,0,0] at the upper-left corner of the screen. When you change your CINEWARE camera to “Comp Camera” it will put a centered object at the upper-left corner.

Instead, you can choose “Centered Comp Camera” which will translate the C4D coordinate system to Ae’s comp space.
