I am trying to learn lesson 3 travel matte. Everything was going fine until i tried to add an alpha transparancy file from Photoshop. Why isn’t final cut Pro acknowledging my file as a transparancy. I understand you have to click the Alpha matte, however it’s not working out for me. Is there a step i should be doing in Photoshop before I import the file into Final Cut pro. I am creating the file as a transparancy in Photoshop, however when i import the file to final cut pro, it gives me a white background instead of a transparent background, like in your video.
    Please help.

    Rolanda,

Save the file as a psd and make sure it has a layer. Drag into the browser and it will be a sequence. Open it and copy and paste the layer(s) into your main sequence. This never fails for me.

Yep, that’s pretty much it, as Chris says. If you have a flattened photoshop image or an image with no layers, FCP will not recognize the transparency.
