  • Travel Matte – Luma: Basic Motion keyframes kill it?

Ok, I hate Travel Mattes, always have, always will, but I love some of the effects you can do with them.

Well, could do with them, before. I’m using FCP 7.0.2, on an 11-month-old Mac Pro.

I want to scale a Travel Matte, so I added a keyframe, advanced the playhead, added a second keyframe. At this point everything still looks fine.

As soon as I change the value for either keyframe, the travel matte fails. It completely removes both itself and the video in the track above it, as if the decision to scale caused it’s shape to disappear.

The matte is created from a layer in a PSD, and I’ve not simply saved the layer as a JPG or PNG and tried that, which I’m going to do next, but has anyone else had this happen? It’s annoying.
