Trashing XDCam Transfer source files
Posted by Bob Tompkins on June 20, 2011 at 2:35 pmCan someone please tell me how to delete the source files on the left hand side of XDcam Transfer? I would like to delete them all. I know it has been on here before but I can’t find it.

I assume you just mean delete them from the list and not actually trash them from the system. -

June 20, 2011 at 3:21 pmCorrect…I do not want XDCam transfer to have to look for all of those files every time it opens. Plus I have an orphaned file that is causing XDCam transfer to crash every time.

June 20, 2011 at 3:47 pmIan…XdCam crashes immediately upon opening and won’t let me delete individual files. I think I have an orphaned clip that is giving me problems. How do I delete all of them from the preferences?

If it’s crashing on launch and you can’t get to the prefs then move or delete the ‘Sony XDCAM Transfer’ folder in User/Library/Application Support (this is the default cache location– if you are caching elsewhere, you’ll need to go there and move/delete the above folder). This folder contains the cache and the application’s SQL database. After you move/delete the library folder you’ll get a blank source list and a setup prompt when you launch the application.
I’d just move it for now. If there are any negative consequences you can always put it back.
You can also try trashing the application’s preference file at user/library/preferences, though if it really is corrupt source info in the database this will probably not fix the problem.
